El Salvador vive horas de alta tensión entre dos poderes del Estado. El presidente Nayib Bukele ha amenazado a la Asamblea Legislativa y ha llamado a la insurrección, si los diputados no le aprueban un préstamo para su plan de seguridad. El Ejecutivo quiere obligar a sesionar a la Asamblea, una decisión catalogada como viciada por expertos constitucionales. Como medida de intimidación, el gobierno ha militarizado la Asamblea Legislativa y retirado la seguridad con policías que le corresponde a los diputados en base a la ley.
El Partido de la Izquierda Europea (PIE) expresa su rechazo a la violación de la Constitución de la República de El Salvador por parte del Presidente Bukele, en su afàn de someter a la Asamblea Nacional a las prioridades de otros órganos del Estado, en abierta ruptura de la separación de poderes.
El PIE manifiesta su respaldo al FMLN y a la Asamblea Nacional por la decisión tomada de no aceptar la decisiòn del Presidente, respectando el marco constitucional del equilibrio entre poderes.
Como ya lo han hecho distintas organizaciones nacionales e internacionales, exigimos del Presidente poner freno a las amenazas de rompimiento del orden institucional y a la prepotencia, propias de una dictadura, con propósito altamente peligrosos para la vida institucional del país. En su historia, el pueblo salvadoreño ha derrotado dictaduras, no quiere volver a esos tiempos tenebrosos y sabrà defender la democracia y las conquistas sociales y políticas.
El PIE hace un llamado a la UE y a los gobiernos de los Estados miembros a estar vigilantes sobre esta situación promovida por el presidente de la República y que constituye una inminente amenaza en contra del estado de derecho y la democracia.

EL SALVADOR: IN DEFENSE OF DEMOCRACY, AGAINST AUTHORITARIAN TORSION
El Salvador lives hours of high tension between two powers of the State. President Nayib Bukele has threatened the Legislative Assembly and called for insurrection if the deputies do not approve a loan for his security plan. The Executive wants to force the Assembly to meet, a decision cataloged as vitiated by constitutional experts. As a measure of intimidation, the government has militarized the Parliament and withdrawn security with police officers that are responsible for the deputies, according to the law.
The Party of the European Left (PIE) expresses its rejection of the violation of the Constitution of the Republic of El Salvador by President Bukele, in an effort to submit the National Assembly to the priorities of other State organs, in open breakdown of the separation of powers.
The PIE expresses its support for the FMLN and the National Assembly for the decision taken not to accept the President’s decision, respecting the constitutional framework of the balance between powers.
As different national and international organizations have already done, we demand from the President to curb the threats of breaking the institutional order and the arrogance, typical of a dictatorship, with a purpose that is highly dangerous for the institutional life of the country. In its history, the Salvadoran people have defeated dictatorships, do not want to return to those dark times and will know how to defend democracy and social and political conquests.
The EL calls on the E.U. and the governments of the member states to be vigilant about this situation promoted by the President of the Republic, which constitutes an imminent threat against the rule of law and democracy.
