The IPPC SR15 report (Masson-Delmotte et al., 2018) warned that greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by half by 2030 and to zero by 2050 in order to have a 50% to 66% chance of keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees. On the other hand, the energy and materials crisis linked to what is known as peak oil and peak everything has brought to light the fact that today’s societies’ development based on high consumption of energy and materials is at an end.
EUiA, the Fundació Revolució Democràtica and the Party of the European Left together organized two webinar sessions with national and international speakers, in order to these issues. The debate will focus on the Green New Deal, degrowth and the green economy. On what forms, limits and orientations of political economy are being carried out by the European states and regions in relation to the programs of ecological transition.

L’informe IPPC SR15 (Masson–Delmotte et al., 2018) adverteix que per tenir entre un 50% i un 66% d’oportunitats de mantenir l’escalfament global per sota de 1,5 graus les emissions de gasos d’efecte hivernacle han de reduir-se a la meitat el 2030 i a zero en la dècada de 2050.
D’altra banda, la crisi energètica i de materials vinculada al que s’anomena peak oil i peak everything posa sobre la taula el fet que el desenvolupament basat en un gran consum d’energia i materials de les societats actuals arriba a la seva fi.
Per debatre sobre aquests temes vam organitzar juntament amb EUiA, la Fundació Revolució Democràtica i el Partit de l’Esquerra Europea dues sessions de webseminar amb ponents nacionals i internacionals. El debat girarà al voltant del Green New Deal, el decreixement i l’economia ecològica. Què formes, límits i orientacions d’economia política s’estan duent a terme per part dels estats i les regions europees en referència als programes de transició ecològica.
