„Not I. WE.“

Bernie Sanders as a game changer in the 2020 US Presidential election.

Open panel discussion.

Saarbrücken / Germany.

In times of unpredictable Trump politics and right-wing ideology becoming more and more popular both in the U.S. and Europe, U.S. Senator and socialist Bernie Sanders is gaining crucial importance with his “Not I. We.” campaign. His ideas have the potential to change western politics.

We strive to explore Sanders’s political ideas and suggestions, which resonate, we believe, with our own. In doing so, we will briefly outline the American political system and electoral rules. From there, we will discuss various policy stances taken by Sanders. We conclude with a debate on his vision for a democratic socialism shaped by Eugen V. Debs and FDR.

The event will take place on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 6pm in the ‘Schloßkeller’ (basement) of ‘das Schloss’ (castle) in Saarbrücken. The event is sponsored by Rosa-Luxemburg-Foundation Saarland, in co-operation with a number of local partners and the EL – North America Working Group
