Information on the proceedings and results of the international conference: „China and Central Europe, political, economical and geopolitical consequences – standpoint of the Left“
Within session of WG for CEE, that took part in Prague, on December 2nd, 2018 an international conference on the topic : „China and Central Europe, political, economical and geopolitical consequences – standpoint of the Left“ was held in Prague, at the city congress centre on December 1st, 2018.
The idea of organizing the venue was to give an opportunity to the parties of European Left to join the political dialogue with CPC on a high level and get the information on the Chinese geopolitical intentions and policies in the region of CEE.
As a matter of fact, some political parties are involved in this dialogue for some time – High political dialogue of CPC with the political parties from all over the world or within the format of 1+16, so this is a logical step to include in this proces other political parties, so far standing aside.
This was a logical step and follow-up after the visit of delegation of PEL in China, led by Chairman Mr. Gysy in China, in June, 2018.
The CPC was represented by Mrs. Gong Yuan, Vice-Director of the Euro-Asian Department of the International Department of CPC and the first secretary of this department.
The speech of the Chinese representative is enclosed, in her exposition she put an impetus on the following issues:
On the Czech side, sinologists, outstanding personalities were delivering the speeches. To mention some of them: V. Hrubec – Academy of sciences of the Chech Republic, J. Kohout – former Minister of Foreingn Affaires and President of the Institute of the New Silk Road and Chairman of the Czech-China Joint Commercial and Industry Chamber, profesor Oskar Krejčí, outstanding Czech politologist, J. Baum – professor of Vienna University and many others.
Conclusion: The conference has provided a wholesome picture of the Chinese policies in this region and can be anticipated as first step on the road of further communications on the soil of PEL.
