The European Left (EL) congratulates Možemo! – politička platforma, all its members and volunteers for the historical electoral success at the Croatian local elections. The first round of municipal election represents a major success for this coalition and offers hope for all those who want a break with neoliberal and right-wing politics, towards leftist and ecological alternative.
The President of the EL Heinz Bierbaum congratulates, in particular, Tomislav Tomasevic, who will compete for the position of Zagreb mayor, next May 30. He won 147,631 votes (45.15%) in the first round, putting him in a prime position in the run-off against the right-wing candidate, Miroslav Skoro. In the City Assembly of Zagreb Možemo! won 23 seats, a result that confirms us that Croatian citizens not only want to break with the past but also that the left-green coalition has caught this demand to change.
