El Partido de la Izquierda Europea, junto con IUN-NEB y Ezker Anitza – IU Euskadi, han mostrado en una rueda de prensa celebrada este martes en Pamplona el respaldo unitario de las organizaciones de izquierdas a la contracumbre y movilizaciones que se desarrollaran los próximos días durante la cumbre del G7 en Biarritz durante los días 24, 25 y 26 de Agosto.

The G7 is an illegitimate framework that brings together the war- and austerity-mongers, those responsible for the worsening of poverty and the lack of will to fight effectively against global warming, those who create the conditions for the next crisis of capitalism, the promoters of free trade agreements and those responsible for closing borders against migrants.
The climate, social and economic crisis and the risks of war cannot be solved by those who are responsible for them. The time has come for a real international initiative driven by peoples and nations and devoted to the urgencies of the planet.

The Party of the European Left (EL) has attended the XXV edition of the Foro de São Paulo (FSP), celebrated in Caracas between the 25 and 28 July. A common declaration was approved where EL and FSP underlined the need of a battle against the neoliberal offensive headed by the USA

Alexis Tsipras has led his country through a difficult period, for which I personally want to express my gratitude and respect to him as President of the Party of the European Left.

Together with the citizens of the EU and Mercosur, the progressive forces and the Mercosur parliamentarians, the trade unions and all the social organizations that have mobilized, we oppose this devastating agreement and we will fight to reject it in the parliamentary ratification.
We need agreements that respect the human and social rights of people and nature, and not the umpteenth favor to multinationals.

For us he will always be a pioneer of Cypriot politics and an icon of the European left. Our deepest sympathy lies with his companions, friends and especially with his family.
